Photos by Richard Lamrock and Tim Shellshear

Fields of interesting cars made for a great second Historic Wakefield on the 23-24th September. Perfect racing weather prevailed with Saturday being hot at near 30° and Sunday just right at 19°.  Read more below the photos.

Racing classes

Club members who participated in the racing classes were: Paul Armstrong, Nalla Holden; John Lackey, MG TA special; Richard Longes, Bugatti T35B; Greg Mackie, Cooper Porsche; Dick Willis, Nota Major; and Graeme Louk in the Cooper MG, despite his best efforts, did not get to start.

Regularity Class Participation

In the regularity classes were: Ray Elbourne, Chevrolet National special; Rob Everett, MG L type; Christopher Morris, GN Sports; John Lackey jnr, Amilcar CGSs; Stephen Figgis, Riley Imp; Kent Patrick, Bugatti T37A; Tim Shellshear, MG F type special; Les Craft, MG TC; and Jon Elbourne, Triumph Super 7 sports.

Nick Patrick, driving the family T37A, did very well for his first time on the track.

The stand out

The stand out was Grant Cowie, up from Victoria, driving Jeremy Morris’s Frazer Nash (as Jeremy was unable to come). Grant entered four of the regularity races and won them all!

Special appreciation must go to the same organising trio as last years’ being John Lackey, John Medley and Rob Rowe and of course Matt Baragwanath and his team from Wakefield.

The Wakefield management were most hospitable in providing excellent nibbles and drinks with a jazz band at the end of Saturday’s racing enjoyed by about a 100 or so.

Our web site has photos up mainly of members in the regularity class, but if anyone has good photos of members in the racing classes we would like to add them to the web.
